Shanxi Provincial Museum is Chinese local comprehensive museum. Shanxi Provincial Museum is located at Confucian Memorial in the southeast side of Taiyuan City. In 1918, Shanxi Provincial Museum begun establishing and was formally opened in 1919. Originally named Shanxi Provincial Musuem of Educational Book and in 1933 it was renamed Shanxi Provincial Center of Civil Education. In 1949, it was changed to Shanxi Provincial Museum of Book, and in 1952, collaborated with Cultural Relic Hall of Taiyuan City. It was finalized Shanxi Provincial Museum. This museum collects more than 100,000 articles of historical and cultural relics, revolutionary relics as well as natural samples.

Among them, there are 443 first-rank collections. The basic displays are located in east hall and west hall of Confucian Memorial as well as Grand Achievement Hall. There are Shanxi Province Ancient History, Shanxi Province Modern History and Display of Shanxi Revolutionary History. The total area is 2000 square meters. The displayed articles are more than 1000. In the display of ancient history, the themes are comprised of primitive society, slavery society and feudalistic society. These exhibitions systematically reflect the general condition of Shanxi politics, economy and cultural development of different generations. In the modern history display, the major themed exhibitions are anti-imperialism history of local people, anti-feudal history of local revolutionary events and a lot of other historic events happened in Shanxi province. There is another subsidiary hall to show the historic and cultural relics and antiques. In the hall, there are the porcelains, copperwares, coins, glazed wares, carvings and sculptures, calligraphy and painting, embroidery, lacquerworks and stele works.
